Let’s face it. We’ve all done it…

You set a goal and for one reason or another you don’t achieve it. Again.

Sometimes you even set the same goal repeatedly and you still see little to no results. You know you want to achieve your goal…you have the best intentions…but…something just isn’t working.

Now you have a choice.

Do you…

A) Keep going, trying what you know, hoping something will change?

B) Stop, frustrated, then convince yourself that you don’t really need to achieve that goal anyway.

C) Re-commit to the goal and get support to FILL IN THE PUZZLE PIECES YOU ARE MISSING!

When you keep choosing A or B, its like you are a hamster on a wheel and no matter how hard you work, nothing really changes. Kinda like this…

Exhausting right? When you are repeatedly not hitting goals you have set for yourself, this is a sign of something deeper going on and its time to ask yourself the following…

Is my goal rooted in convenience or commitment?

When we imagine achieving a bold goal, you may feel a ton of excitement and get fired up. But then things fall apart later, right?

This is the difference between convenience and commitment.

Convenient goals get achieved when things are…well…easy. You do just enough to not fail but not enough to really succeed. You have a lot of excuses for WHY you haven’t pulled off your goal yet. And those excuses are probably VERY REAL. But you can’t find time to do the things that will work.

On the other hand, when you are committed to a goal, you’ll do whatever it takes!

Work a few extra hours? No problem!

Feel stuck? Who can I call to help me break through this!

Don’t know what to do next? I’ll figure it out!

Commitment has no excuses. Commitment sees no challenges that can’t be overcome.

Convenience always has a reason why you can’t achieve the goal.

Commitment ALWAYS achieves the goal, even though the route to get there may shift and evolve.

It takes a strong commitment to the end result to get you through the days when motivation is nowhere to be found…

People who only take action when they are feeling inspired or motivated tend to stay in their comfort zone…

They create goals that are driven only by fleeting emotion or pain…instead of a solid commitment to an end result.

Am I setting the bar too low?

Ordinary goals give you ordinary results. If you’re looking to achieve the extraordinary, you need to create a bold goal that stretches you outside your comfort zone. What many entrepreneurs don’t realize is, a bold goal gets you out of that “stuck” energy that keeps you in procrastination, safely under the radar and out of touch with those who you could most effectively inspire into working with you.

When your goal is so big that you have NO IDEA how to pull it off, something shifts inside. When you allow yourself to rise to the challenge, you have to become the person who can pull it off. You can’t possible achieve this goal the same what you’ve approached other goals (otherwise you would have already done it!)

As the explorer W.H. Murray famously stated:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it.

Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

When you commit to making a bold move or stretch into a bold goal that can establish new levels of influence, all sorts of resources and support show up to help you pull off this goal. You don’t have to know how, or even what, but just that making the decision will activate a new, more resourceful, version of you. And that version of you is BOLDLY INFLUENTIAL!

How do you know if your goal is bold enough? A bold goals should be equally intriguing and terrifying. If your automatic response is, No Problem, then the goals probably isn’t bold enough.

Am I trying to do too much?

Sometimes the real reason you aren’t achieving your goals is you have too many “goals” that you want to achieve in too little time — and you just don’t have enough energy, time or focus. Imagine you’re standing in front of a dart board, trying to hit three targets at the same time. It’s hard enough hitting one target, but hitting three targets simultaneously with one dart? Forget it.

Goals are the same way. You only have so much time and energy to give, which means you need to prioritize and focus. Prioritizing what really works can give you the edge in business…and keep overwhelm from taking you down. Its one of the key Supercharge You trainings I teach each year in the Amplify Inner Circle. The key is to hone in on the low-hanging fruit (aka your high payoff activities).

Instead of guessing what will work, you’ll be crystal clear on what action steps will lead to results.

No more spinning and feeling overwhelmed! You’ll have clarity and intention with actions designed to move the needle significantly and FAST!

A simple first step you can take right now if you are guilty of piling on the tasks with limited time is to ask yourself these three questions:

1. Which goal gives you the highest return on effort?

2. Which goal aligns with who you really are or want to become at your deepest level?

3. Which goal will increase your influence and define you as an industry leader and expert?

The answer to these questions will give you clues to what REALLY needs your time and attention — now. Often we squander our time on activities that produce zilch, nada, nothing! But when you double down on your highest payoff activities, even if you start to collect wins. When that momentum of accomplishment is ignited, you move into flow and things start to happen a lot more quickly!
